Formerly known as the Dodge Ram, the Ram trucks of today are in a class of their own. Built on the Dodge reputation of being tough, rugged, and dependable, the Ram 1500 Laramie is not your daddy’s pickup truck. Designed with your ultimate comfort in mind, it is chock full of creature comforts and the latest in technology.
Meticulous attention has been given to every detail, those you see and those that you do not see. The Ram 1500 Laramie comes in a few different configurations, including the quad cab (or extended cab) with a 6’4″ bed and the crew cab with either a 6’4″ or 5’7″ bed. Seating up to six people, the Laramie crew cab provides the most legroom of any of the Ram trims. You can step up into your Laramie on the available running boards, enjoy the heated and ventilated front seats to stay comfortable regardless of the weather, and listen to your favorite tunes with nine amplified speakers.
You will be proud to call the Ram 1500 Laramie your own thanks to its masculine chrome grille, 20-inch chrome clad aluminum wheels, and your choice of several monochrome colors or two-tone paint schemes. Safety is our priority, as well as yours. For that reason, every Ram 1500 Laramie is created with dynamic crumple zones, an advanced airbag system, antilock brakes, side-impact door beams, and an optional AllSecure central locking system.
Keep all your tools or other valuables secure in the exclusive RamBox cargo management system, which consists of two locking storage compartments located in the side rails of the bed. These compartments also have drain plugs that allow you to put ice in them, creating instant coolers. Handy 40/20/40 split bench front seat makes accessing the rear seat even easier.
The first of the luxury trim levels found on the RAM 1500, the 2019 RAM 1500 Laramie has all the features you would get in the trims – Tradesman, HFE, Big Horn, and Rebel – on the lower rungs of the trim ladder. Such features include a rearview camera, USB ports for the back seats, touchscreen, dual-zone climate control, Uconnect infotainment, specialized off-road tires, foglights, satellite radio, and more.
What the 2019 RAM 1500 Laramie adds for the model year is leather upholstery, keyless entry, heated and ventilated front outboard seats, power-adjustable pedals with memory, driver-seat position memory, front and rear parking sensors, a nine-speaker audio system, and a heated steering wheel.
While the Dodge Brothers produced their first pickup truck in 1917, it was not until 1981 when the Ram name was first used. In 1933 a ram’s head hood ornament was added but then discontinued in the 1950s. Dodge’s coding for its 4- and 2-wheel drives and weight ratings were labeled as “W” for 4-wheel drives and “D” for 2-wheel drives. They were also numbered as 150 (half ton), 250 (three-quarter ton), and 350 (one ton). The 4-wheel drives were named Power Rams.
The 1981 Rams were constructed of a lighter-weight sheet metal that proved more rust-resistant. The truck also had a few changes to the powertrain, as well as both the exterior and the interior through the 1980s. Electronic fuel injection came out in 1988 and new engines in 1989. Debuted about this time was the Cummins Turbodiesel.
The years 1994-2001 saw the second generation of Rams. Rating designations changed to 1500, 2500, and 3500, and the Laramie SLT was born. The years of 2002-2008 changed the Ram even more as it entered its third generation. More attention was paid to interior comfort and the engine was beefed up. The current fourth generation that began in 2009 continues to upgrade and improve the Ram Laramie trucks.
